Fans will be envious of the year 11 girls from Sir William Stanier School who were given silver VIP tickets for the match on Saturday when Crewe Alexandra beat Scunthorpe by one goal to nil. The Club is enthusiastic about supporting the Big Sister mentoring programme and, for the second year running, has generously hosted the girls and their Big Sisters on one of their planned group-activities.
The activities are designed to take the girls out of their everyday experience and give them opportunities to try different things – and have some fun while bonding with their peers and with their mentors. All this could be seen in action at the match, where they were delighted to take advantage of photo-opportunities with the players, talk to the staff and get a peek behind the scenes of a professional football club.
The popularity of the event was evident in the big turnout of girls. They all enjoyed a day which added to their experience of the many facets of life after school: and who knows what dreams and ambitions will be born as a result?
