We’ve just celebrated the culmination of the Big Sisters year-long mentoring programme – and we all made sure it was a day to remember.
Before the graduation ceremony the Girls were invited to South Cheshire College where, after being served lunch, they were treated to a pampering session which included hairdressing and makeovers. So they were all looking fabulous by the time they got to Manchester Metropolitan University’s campus for the main event of the day – the presentation of their certificates by the Lord Mayor of Crewe. Every one of them really deserved the congratulations – and the goody bags – they received.
And we didn’t forget the Big Sisters who were also awarded certificates – and a huge vote of thanks – for their wonderful work in supporting and encouraging their girls so passionately.
We were delighted to be joined in the celebration by representatives from all those who supported the programme: the sponsors, Cheshire East Council and Wulvern; Sir William Stanier Community School (the girls’ school); Cheshire Constabulary; MMU dance and outdoor students and, very importantly, some of the girls’ parents and friends. All of them had a chance to see the real difference they had made to our lovely girls.
After the formal presentations we all had a bit of a party with a specially made cake, drinks, music and lots of photos. And this is just the start of the journey!
