Hattie (centre) and her speakers get ready to inspire
20 awesome role models arrived at Albion Academy on 15 January to inspire Year 8 girls to think big, believe in their dreams and reach for the stars. Our Role Model Relay event hosted for the first time by one of our top Ambassadors XFM radio presenter, Hattie Pearson, is a opportunity for the girls to be inspired by 4 women who share their journey upfront, then over an hour of speed mentoring where they get to chat to a diverse group of women from all walks of life. At this event we were joined by a a singer/songwriter, CEO of one of the leading children’s day nurseries, an international make-up artist/stylist, physiotherapist, beauty salon owner, sales consultant, fashion boutique owner, event manager, police officers, NHS manager, media executives and more. Here is a quote from one of the girls on her feedback form
‘These women made me believe that I can follow my dreams if I work hard and have hope.’ Job done!

There have been many plus points to taking on this new title; one of which was definitely the raised eyebrows I caused when telling people I’d just gained a little sis. In fact, your eyebrows […]
Launching a Big Sister programme always fills the Girls Out Loud team with excitement. On the morning of the launch at Albion Academy, it’s safe to say everyone was filled with nerves. It’s a big deal for a teenage girl to agree to open up to someone, especially to a relative stranger. It wasn’t just […]
So, are you an apple, a pear, a rectangle or an hour-glass? In case you haven’t worked it out the question is about identifying your essential body shape. You really need to know which one you are so that you can minimise your wardrobe disasters. If you’re shaped like a pear then you really should […]
My friend has always maintained that she can’t sing so I was surprised when she told me that she had joined a choir. “How come they accepted you?” I asked. “Ah, well, it’s a special choir” she answered “it’s called the Can’t Sing Choir. It’s for people who think they can’t sing.” The leader of […]
