LITTLE MIX GIVE GIRLS OUT LOUD A HIGH FIVE…

Our Founder Jane Kenyon shares her Little Mix adventure..

Back in September this year Syco Entertainment contacted me direct to ask if I would like to appear in a Little Mix music video to help promote an empowering anthem from their up and coming LM5 album. The single is called STRIP

To be honest my answer did not take much consideration really. I was in!

The all-day shoot took place in a secret location in London and participating in a full day shoot with the most amazing women, surrounded by a crew of over 70 professional producers, photographers, choreographers, PR professionals, stylists, camera operators and the legendary Film Director and Photographer Andrew Rankin was a long way away from my normal day job but what an experience!

I have never been as primped and powdered as much in my life!

It was a long day and it made me realise how much work goes into a 3 minute video. Jesy, Perrie, Jade and Leigh-Anne are serious about their craft, absolute perfectionists and were first on set at 6am and the last to leave after midnight.

Little Mix Group Shot - Strip Video

Whilst it was a pleasure to meet the girls, some of my fellow video stars, all handpicked by Little Mix, were women whose work I have admired from a far for some time. Women who are helping to change the landscape for young women including global plus size model Felicity Hayward, Body Positive campaigner Megan Jayne Crabbe aka Bodyposipanda, Co-Founder of the charity fighting to stop FGM Daughters of Eve Nimko Ali, Kris Hallenga, Founder of Coppafeel Cancer charity and Bryony Gordon, author, Telegraph columnist and mental health champion.

The lyrics to STRIP are a great antidote to the normal, negative messages young girls are subjected to about their bodies and I admire Little Mix for changing the conversation, taking their responsibility as role models seriously and having the courage to create a new beat. They are also rocking a more R&B vibe which I love.

Young girls need to know today more than ever that confidence comes from within, not from your reflection and that your shape is perfect whatever it is. These are the key messages in the STRIP song. I was also moved by how much the girls in Little Mix love and support each other and champion other women, a true message of sisterhood we really need to embrace more.

How could I refuse to participate in such a project when the values and mission is so aligned to Girls Out Loud? And remember if you stay focused on your passion anything is possible. Who imaged I would be getting on down with the biggest global girl band on the planet at my age!!

Loving ya work girls!
