Great news and great fun as our second Girls Out Loud Big Sister mentoring programme in Crewe was official launched last week at Sir William Stanier Community School in Crewe.
Crewe Mayor Cllr Roy Cartlidge made a speech and presented each of the girls who will be taking part with a goodie bag to welcome them to the programme. Speeches were also made by Sir William Stanier Assistant Head, Gemma Bailey and Girls Out Loud founder Jane Kenyon.
And the ‘Big Sisters’ (trained and CRB checked) who will be mentoring the latest group for the coming year were given a vote of thanks for their commitment to the programme.
Following the overwhelming success of last year’s programme where the girls attendance and attitude to learning have both improved and their confidence has soared we are all looking forward to working with the girls to help prepare them for a successful life after school.
Yesterday the girls and Big Sisters were matched and met each other for their first 121. In addition to the 121s we have a Personal Safety workshop to look forward mid June – Julie Tweedale from Freedom Personal Safety (www.freedompersonalsafety.co.uk / @fpsJulie) to lead in her usual inspiring energetic style and a summer session to be planned too.
